OBA Facilitates Agreement Between Daimler Trucks North America and Attorney General's Office

This morning Attorney General John Kroger announced the settlement of an ongoing lawsuit with Daimler Trucks North America which will help repair the company's relationship with the state of Oregon.

Daimler Trucks, formerly Freightliner, employs over 2,000 Oregonians and is a critical piece of Oregon's economic landscape.

The lawsuit hinged on ambiguities in Oregon's punitive damages law.  OBA's Executive Committee believed there was questionable rationale for the state to seek punitive damages in this case.

OBA representatives, including board member and former NW Airlines COO, Don Washburn, played an important role in pushing to have the case settled quickly and in a manner both sides could agree to.

OBA would like to recognize Attorney General Kroger for listening to our concerns and moving quickly to settle this matter.

Daimler Trucks has indicated that this lawsuit has been a major impediment in its relationship with the state.  In the interest of protecting jobs and keeping great companies in Oregon, OBA is glad to have this dispute resolved.
