OBA Statesman Dinner Keynote Speaker Senator Dodd to Lead Financial Reforms

POLITICO is reporting that Senator Chris Dodd of Connecticut will remain the chair of the Senate Banking Committee.  All eyes were on this year's OBA Statesman Dinner keynote speaker as the senator contemplated taking up the gavel of the Senate Health Committee following the passing of Senator Ted Kennedy.

POLITICO: Dodd to Stay as Banking Chair

"Dodd has played stand-in for the late Senator Ted Kennedy for most of this year on the pivotal Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (HELP) panel during the health reform debate, raising question about which role he might decide to play full-time after Kennedy's death.  Now Dodd has decided to stay put with the Banking Committee."

Senator Dodd's continued chairmanship of the Banking Committee signals the likelihood that there will be major reforms on consumer protections and new rules for Wall Street coming out of the Congress by the end of the year.

As the highest ranking member of the Health Committee and chair of the Banking Committee, Senator Dodd will continue to be the "man in the middle" on the two major national reform efforts underway.  We look forward to hearing from Senator Dodd at this year's OBA Statesman Dinner.
