Last week OBA held a press conference to unveil our principles for dealing with the state budget deficit and a balanced package of revenue increases that the business community would support to help ensure schools and universities have adequate funding for the coming 2009-11 budget period.
OBA established a floor funding level for the K-20 Education Enterprise that we feel the state cannot go under. Our budget proposal as outlined by our business representatives emphasizes transparency and shared sacrifice in dealing with the current crisis.
Participants in the media event included current OBA Board Chair Mike Morgan, Managing Partner of Tonkon Torp, Matt Chapman, President & CEO of Northwest Evaluation Association (NWEA), Founding OBA Chair Tom Kelly, President of Neil Kelly, Inc. and OBA President Ryan Deckert.

Coverage of OBA's proposal has been positive as legislative leaders in both chambers praised the business community for taking a proactive, constructive position in advance of the pending budget negotiations.
