Oregon Business Association is happy to announce that Marion Haynes has joined OBA as Vice President of Legislative Affairs/General Counsel.

OBA represents a diverse coalition of companies ranging from Oregon's largest farm – Three Mile Canyon Farms – to Oregon's two fortune 500 companies – Nike and Precision Castparts.

Marion will help guide a robust legislative agenda in 2009.  Priorities will include: a new approach to education funding, growing the innovation economy, health care reform, passing a major investment in sustainable transportation and tackling climate change with an eye towards economic development.

Marion comes to OBA following her tenure as the Government Relations Director and Associate General Counsel for the Portland Business Alliance.  In that role, Marion provided policy analysis and served as a primary point of contact between PBA and governmental bodies on issues related to business vitality.

Marion’s areas of focus include transportation, land use, urban renewal and economic development.  In addition, she played a leading role in delivering the 2006 and 2007 Regional Business Plans and the regional and state Cost of Congestion studies.

Marion has served on numerous advisory committees for local, regional and state government related to issues such as regional infrastructure, freight mobility, statewide transportation funding and industrial lands.

Prior to joining PBA, Marion worked at Schnitzer Investment Corp. on property management, acquisition and development projects, as well as advocating for land use and transportation policies related to Schnitzer’s property holdings.

While working for Schnitzer, Marion attended Lewis and Clark Law School and is now a member of the Oregon State Bar.  Marion moved to Oregon in 1994 from the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area.
