OBA 2009 Statesman Dinner

Oregon Business Association's annual Statesman Dinner will be held on Monday, October 12, 2009 at the Oregon Convention Center in the Portland Ballroom.

"THE MAN IN THE MIDDLE"

This year’s national speaker, Connecticut Senator Dodd, is "the man in the middle" of national reform efforts in both finance and healthcare.

Senator Dodd is the current chair of the Senate Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs Committee tasked with reforming the nation’s financial institutions following the recent economic crisis.

As the second highest ranking member on the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee, Senator Dodd filled in for Senator Kennedy in moving health reform legislation through the HELP Committee and continues to be a leading voice within the national healthcare debate.

Senator Dodd is also the author of a book LETTERS FROM NUREMBERG: My Father’s Narrative of a Quest for Justice.

Once again, this unique event is expected to attract nearly 1000 guests bringing together business, political and civic leaders from all across Oregon.

In honoring Gun Denhart and Greg Macpherson, OBA will recognize two outstanding individuals whose "Oregon Values" have guided them in their efforts to give back to their communities with an eye on the future of our state.

Previous Statesman Award recipients are Senator Gordon Smith and Senator Ron Wyden (2001), Governor Victor Atiyeh and Governor John Kitzhaber (2002), Jack McGowan (2003), Senator Mark Hatfield (2004), Governor Barbara Roberts and Norma Paulus (2005), Senator Margaret Carter and Dave Frohnmayer (2006), Senator Frank Morse and Ken Thrasher (2007), Mayor Vera Katz and House Speaker Lynn Lundquiest (2008).

This year's gathering of business, political and civic leaders from across Oregon makes the OBA 2009 Statesman Dinner the must attend event of the year. Table sponsorships are available.
